THE 48th TORCHIATO AND VINI DEI COLLI DI CONEGLIANO DOCG WINE SHOW
Fregona enjoys an extraordinary natural heritage given by numerous trails, the Caglieron Caves Park and the Cansiglio Forest. The mild and temperate climate has favoured human settlements that have inhabited the numerous villages since ancient times.
The Torchiato Exhibition highlights the traditional passito wine that has been produced in Fregona since 1600, as well as the red and white wines that belong to the same DOCG.
Various food products are offered for tasting, including locally produced olive oil, cheeses and cured meats. The exhibition is framed by a number of events dedicated to biodiversity, guided tours of the winery, cultural moments and socialising, thanks to the warm welcome provided by Pro Loco volunteers.
Fregona
Fregona is the gateway to the Cansiglio plateau and to Mount Pizzoc, at the north-eastern end of the Valsana area, and a timber reserve of the Republic of Venice in the past. Its history was also signed by the presence in the second half of the 1700s of the community of Cimbrian origin, whose particular houses can still be seen today.
Fregona is well known and popular for its suggestive Caglieron Caves (Grotte del Caglieron), which is an alternation of natural and artificial cavities. The natural cavities are dug by the stream that gives its name to the locality that hosts them, and the artificial ones are formed due to the extraction of the “piera dolza” which is still visible today in the jambs of the houses in the area. Follow a pedestrian path to discover the countless micro-environments and spectacular waterfalls of the cavities, which will transport you into a fairy world. In the village you can visit the Parish Church, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, built in 1474 and also hosting some sculptures by master Canova. There are also many Villas that are worth visiting. Somo of them are the 17th century Villa Troyer, the 15th century Villa Dal Cin and the 17th century Casa Fossa in Fratte hamlet.
